Membership FAQ's

Do all CREW chapters have the same membership requirements?

- Each chapter has its own set of membership criteria and is governed by its own set of Bylaws.

To join CREW Dallas, how many years must I have worked in the commercial real estate industry?
A Full member must have 5 years of continuous experience in one of the primary or secondary disciplines oulined in the membership application.  CREW Dallas is now proud to offer an Associate level membership where individuals who have less than 5 years of experience can join as well!   Other than the years of experience, Associate members have the same requirements of working in one of the primary or secondary disciplines outlined in the membership application.
Two sponsors are required to support my application for membership.
What if I do not currently know any members?

 - The CREW office can help facilitate connecting applicants with active members who are willing to sponsor new members. Applicants in this situation should prepare their paperwork and before sending it in, contact the CREW office (214.890.6490) to notify the Chapter Administrator that they will need help finding sponsors.  Once the application is received by the office, Staff will connect the applicant with two members willing to help.

How much are annual dues?
 - Annual dues for 2010 are $495, of which $160 is retained by CREW Network and $335 by CREW Dallas. Dues payments are handled by and made payable to CREW Network. Dues must be received by February 14th in order for members to be listed in the national CREW Network directory and to avoid a late penalty of $100.
How are applications reviewed?
- Applications are currently accepted on a rolling basis, although the chapter maintains a membership structure under which 80% of members represent primary real estate disciplines, and 20% represent secondary disciplines (see membership application for break out of designations). Once the application is received in full, the CREW Dallas office sends it to the New Member Recruiting Committee who conducts the review by verifying information submitted and visiting with references.  Once the review is complete, the recommendation and application goes on to CREW Dallas' Board of Directors for a vote. With majority approval, the applicant is notified of membership by the CREW Office. The process typically takes 15-30 days.

If the scope of my employment does not qualify me for membership, are there ways I can still be involved?
- Non-members are welcome to attend "open" CREW events. Check out the Events section of the website and go to Guest Registration to see what is available for me to attend.
